At a glance

The eBay Mastercard® is ideal for heavy eBay shoppers that spend at least $1,000 through their online marketplace each year. Earn points on every transaction and redeem them for discounts at the eBay checkout – includes taxes and shipping costs.

Our review of the eBay Mastercard®

The eBay Mastercard® from Synchrony is a credit card designed for fans of the online marketplace, offering potential rewards for frequent shoppers. However, cardholders must meet a high spending threshold to unlock the card’s most valuable benefits. While the card allows users to earn rewards for external purchases, its redemption methods are limited to eBay purchases only.

One of the drawbacks of the eBay Mastercard® is its lack of introductory 0% APR offer and high APR, making it less than ideal for those planning a shopping spree. The card offers bonus categories for gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants, with the highest rewards earned for eBay purchases.

Cardholders can earn up to 5X points at eBay, 2X points at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants, and 1X points on all other purchases. However, unlocking the 5X rewards rate requires a $1,000 spending threshold, which can be challenging for some users.

Points earned with the eBay Mastercard® have a value of 0.6¢ each and can be redeemed for purchases, taxes, or shipping fees on eBay once 1,500 points have been reached. Points expire after 24 months and can be forfeited under certain conditions, such as missing payments or not using the card for 12 consecutive months.

Overall, the eBay Mastercard® is best suited for frequent eBay shoppers who can meet the spending requirements to unlock the highest rewards. However, casual users may find the card’s limitations and restrictions outweigh its benefits. Consider your shopping habits and spending patterns before applying for the eBay Mastercard®.
